dermatoglyphics dr. harold cummins

Doctor Harold Cummins is unanimously recognized as the Father of Dermatoglyphics.  Dr. Harold studied all the aspects of Dermatoglyphics starting from anthropology to genetics, from embryology to the study of malformed hands. Dermatoglyphics was invented in 1926 by Dr. Harold Cummins, even though the idea of fingerprint detection had been in use for quite a few years. Harold disclosed each aspect of fingerprint analysis starting from anthropology to genetics, from the study of malformed hands to embryology. Dermatoglyphics is basically the study of the outline on fingers and hands. These patterns are unique and related to one’s inherent information and are linked to our nervous system. He utilized the diverse work of his ancestors, added his research and set the requisite standards of the field still in force to the present world. Plus, outstanding grain identification tools were developed and used in research of different genes and so on.

His famous Down syndrome guessed the genetic link to the disease based upon the presence of the Simian Crease. Dermatoglyphics have been used in Anthropology. Most of the population studies reveal unique variation as per the type and sub-type and are used to determine the origin of various groups.  His lifetime studies and techniques he developed are known as the Cummins methodologies are accepted as important tools in tracing genetic and evolutionary relationships. His methodology has acquired common usage in diagnosis of some types of mental retardation, schizophrenia, cleft palate and even heart disease.
